How long have you worked at Alicia’s? What is your favorite part of the bridal process? I’ve worked at Alicia's / The Formal House for about 3 ½ years. But I’ve been involved in the Bridal Industry for longer. My mom was the wedding planner for our church when I was in high school, so I’ve been helping plan weddings in different capacities for years. I love when brides are trying on gowns for the first time. They’re always so excited and eager to learn all about gowns. And I love being able to educate my brides on gowns and the other aspects of their big day. (Especially accessories!!:))
What kind of advice would you give your brides about dress shopping? I think that you should come in with an open mind, and try lots of different styles on. You never know; you may fall in love with something you’d never expect. Another thing I would recommend is to bring just one or two trusted friends or family members. The first time you’re trying on gowns there are a lot of emotions that can come up and if you have too many opinions coming at you it can get very overwhelming.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working at Alicia’s? I’m in the midst of planning my own wedding, so that takes up some of my time! I love shopping and date nights with my man. And just hanging out at home with the kids. We’re also big movie nerds at our house so we’re often found watching a movie and maybe crafting as well.
What is your favorite bridal movie? Favorite Bridal movie is a super hard question for me. As I stated above I’m a huge movie person so I don’t think I can narrow it down to just one. So, I’ll narrow it down to three favorites. They all have a special place in my heart for different reasons. I’d have to say the Wedding Planner, because it’s one of my mom’s favorites and we watched it together often. Father of the Bride, because it makes me think of my dad (which I hope isn’t going to be his reaction to our wedding!) And The Wedding Singer because who doesn’t love an 80’s Drew Barrymore paired with Adam Sandler!! It’s also a great memory with my mom and I love the song Sandler sings on the plane: Grow old with you.
